Batia Strauss method for active perception of music

        This method has been approved by the Israeli Ministry of Education and is recognized as the standard for the educational schools.

       Batia Strauss came from Israel. Her background was a musician and piano teacher. According to her, listening to music should include as many elements and maximum use of the available means of expression. Not every child needs to be a musician, not all may have a musical ear, but if you just want to actively listen - can be musical at the elementary level.

       A method of learning about art in an integrated way (there are elements: drama, mime, visual arts), showing the main features of music (rhythm, melody, harmony) with the implementation of various music publications. It is used with musical examples of Baroque, Classical and others. As well as songs and folk songs, and popular.

     Main characteristics of the method:

        > very important is the beginning of the course (to foster the interest)

        > children, students should learn what they like, not because they are forced to do something,

        > the teacher should come to the children with the proposals (to overcome shyness, "not to wait until the children come to us"),

        > each song should bring essential qualities, not necessarily purely musical (eg courtliness - the label, folklore)

        > must rely on the latest news of art (best practices),

        > is very important to care for the well-being of children in the classroom

        > the use of instruments made ​​independently by the children,

        > using learning instruments and professional instruments ( during the game -replacement instruments for children)

        > presented examples should be easy, but not trivial,

        > children should be encouraged to try singing melodic lines ,

        > you can not expect quick results - it is a long process,

        > do not force children to be active (some dreams, they are like a "different world", will join later)

        > all activities in the classroom should be treated seriously implemented fairly quickly and rationally,

        > children should be treated as adults (because closer to the adult world).
